Angeliki Darlasi was born in Athens where she resides. She is a writer, playwright, director and tutor (for adults and children) in Creative Writing and Theatre.
She holds a BA in Theatre Studies (National and Kapodistrian University of Athens) and an MA in Performance Studies (Central School of Speech and Drama, London).
Her first novel, The Dream Guardians (2004) was awarded the Greek National Prize for Children/Youth Literature (2005). Her second novel When we hid an angel (2009) was awarded the Greek IBBY’S prize for Youth Literature, and was enlisted in White Ravens list, 2010. Her theatre adaptation of this novel was awarded the Greek National Prize for Children/Youth Theatre. Her illustrated story The tree that had wings (2010) and her novel My name is …Cloud (2012) were shortlisted for all the Greek literature awards. Badboy (2014) was awarded the Greek IBBY award for the text and illustration and she was, also, distinguished with an author nomination in the IBBY Honour List, 2016. Badboy has been published in Turkey and in Korea.
Angeliki Darlasi is participating in a Playwrights’ Think Tank held by the “Union of The Theatres of Europe”, representing Greece in an international theatre project.
She is co-founder of the art group “The other side” and of the independent music label “Puzzlemusik”.
Iris Samartzi was born in Athens (1979).
She studied Graphic and Interior design, as well as Children’s Art.
She ’s been working as a children’s book illustrator since 2004.
She also works as an art teacher in nursery and primary school.
As an illustrator she has received various awards. Among others:
-The Compostela Prize 2016 for picture books “El último día” (a project she worked with A. Papatheodoulou-writer).
-The Picture book award from the Greek section of IBBY for the book “The Magic World of Federico” in 2016.
-The National Children’s Picture Book Award and Picture Book award from the Greek section of IBBY for the book “The Good and the Bad Pirates” in 2012.
-The Picture book award from the Greek section of IBBY for the book “Badboy” in 2015.
-“The book "Odyssey, the ingenious story” which she illustrated, was selected for the IBBY Honour List 2014.
On September 2015 she attended Picturecamp masterclass with Benji Davies, Chris Haughton, Alexis Deacon and Jorge Martin in Atapuerca, Spain.
