The Snowman’s Taken Mum Away

I am half-half. Half my dad and half my mum. Of course, all of us -children, that is- are half-half. For us to become ourselves, both of them have to give something of themselves. They even say so on television. But that’s not what I’m talking about. What I’m saying is that I’m half-half because my dad is Greek and my mum is English. I am, in other words, half Greek and half English. Believe it or not, I even share their colouring, too - I have my mum’s blue eyes and my dad’s black hair. I have pale white skin in winter and go dark in the summer. Well, Mum would never tan, no matter how long she sat in the sun. However, she eventually decided that she would always be white. There were times, though, during the summer, when she used to complain about it even though I’d tell her: «But why do you get so upset, Mummy? That you are as white as milk? What of it? Personally I like milk. You know that.»
