Philippos Mandilaras was born in Athens, in 1965. He has been working on children’s and young adult books since 1997 as a writer, a translator, an editor, and a professional reader. He has written many books for younger and older children, one fantasy novel (Niki or what appears and what is), a short story collection for young people (Bananafish) and three contemporary novels for young adults that comprise “The Street trilogy” (Somewhere to Belong, Hyenas, The Elevator Life). For this last one he has been awarded with the State Prize for Young Adult Fiction 2012. He lives in Chios, across the Asian shores.
