Our Teacher is a Pirate is a book about an alternative way of teaching. It tells the story of a teacher who takes a profound interest in his profession. It talks about teachers’ imagination and creativity that have the power to change the classroom completely as well as the power to differentiate the feeling of being a pupil in another process of learning. Role playing, learning how to learn, taking the initiative, seeing reality within imagination’s eyes and being happy during the lesson is what Captain Jimmy achieves.

Reading this story combined with I Want to Tell You the Truth gives the opportunity to see how different teaching strategies cause different results in the classroom as far as learning and pupils incorporation are concerned. The book itself may be perceived as a project proposal. It is inspired from a poem written by a well-known Greek poet Nikos Kavvadias whose lyrics have been changed by the author in order to become children΄s pirate song.
