A hazy and menacing darkness, blacker than the blackest shadow, is enveloping the Land of the Dreamguardians. Few will be able to sense it and even fewer will admit that dreams are waning. The Land seems besieged by invisible and secret enemies; they are the Dreamslayers, some will say – but the Elected will deny it. When the Dreamguardians who fail at flying become more and more the old prejudice against everyone that is different will resurface and split the tribe between the abled and the not.

Asterini, the mystery girl, despite all the attacks against her is determined to complete her secret mission. Sebastian, a fierce young man who manages to fly till the borders of the Dreamroad, will be faced with a great dilemma. Dan and Malvina run the danger of being trapped inside the house of the Gang of Serius when it gets attacked. Victor, the gang leader, will have to reach the farthest border of the Land, the Abyss, where the Dreamcollectors cast their nets.

Not one of them seems to have any choice but to fight against Fear and all that which tries to kill dreaming. Before the Land of the Dreamguardians and the Land of Men are split from each other once and for all, their only choice will perhaps be a dream – the very last one?

AUTHOR

Angeliki Darlasi was born in Athens where she resides. She is a writer, playwright, director and tutor (for adults and children) in Creative Writing and Theatre.

She holds a BA in Theatre Studies (National and Kapodistrian University of Athens) and an MA in Performance Studies (Central School of Speech and Drama, London).

She has been distinguished a lot of times as a playwright in National Playwriting Competitions.

Her first novel, The Dream Guardians (2004) was awarded the Greek National Prize for Children/Youth Literature (2005). Her second novel When we hid an angel (2009) was awarded the Greek IBBY’S prize for Youth Literature, and was enlisted in White Ravens list, 2010. Her theatre adaptation of this novel was awarded the Greek National Prize for Children/Youth Theatre. Her illustrated story The tree that had wings (2010) and her novel My name is …Cloud (2012) were shortlisted for all the Greek literature awards. Badboy (2014) was awarded the Greek IBBY award for the text and illustration and she was, also, distinguished with an author nomination in the IBBY Honour List, 2016. Badboy has also been published in Turkey and is under publication in Korea.

She is participating in a Playwrights’ Think Tank held by the “Union of The Theatres of Europe”, representing Greece in an international theatre project.

She is co-founder of the art group “The other side” and of the independent music label “Puzzlemusik”.

New Chinese editions for our picture books!

Four picture books illustrated by Effie Lada have just been published by the Chinese publisher Shanghai 99 Culture Consulting CO.! Three stories based on traditional tales, "Teardrop's Feat", "The Tower Manuscripts" and "Mary and the Sugarplum Man" by author Athina Biniou, and "The Birthday of the Infanta", Oscar Wilde's story retold by the illustrator.
